Philippine Airlines Celebrates 78 Years with 78 Fare Sale
Philippine Airlines (or PAL, for short) is Asia’s oldest airline bearing the original name that still operates today. To commemorate its 78th anniversary, Philippine Airlines launched a new seat sale promotion running until March 17.
78th Anniversary Sale
This year, Philippine Airlines is offering seats at promo namesake prices: domestic fares are available for as low as ₱78, while international routes are priced for as low as $78. You must book your itineraries by March 17 for flights in the travel period March 16 to December 12, 2019.
One thing you must note is that sale prices can differ based on the website region you are booking from. The Philippine Airlines website shows different price offers depending on where you are: whether you’re flying from within the Philippines, mainland United States or Singapore, for example.
Also, the advertised $78 isn’t necessarily the lowest price offered. The offer page for Hong Kong fares, for example, shows that a round-trip flight to Manila in economy can be as cheap as HK$390 (or around $50)! Just remember to read the fare conditions specific to the page you see the sale information on:
Of course, all these prices are subject to black-out dates (prominent in domestic and US-based fares) and seat availability. You should try searching and booking your target flights as soon as possible to lock in these special rates.
Ongoing PAL-wide System Upgrades
On February 21, Philippine Airlines announced the migration of its passenger services infrastructure to the Amadeus Altea system. They are scheduled to complete the platform change by the end of March, and are hoping customers will benefit from the new system such as:
- Easier booking and automated recognition of customer preferences
- Enhanced online check-in experience and faster airport check-in process
- Seamless service for transfer connections to partner-airline flights
- Real-time, personalized alerts for flight changes
- Cash plus Miles redemption for Mabuhay Miles members at online channels, any PAL Ticket Office, or PAL Hotline.
- Year-round redemption of Mabuhay Miles for any seat and any fare
- Convenient purchase of tickets along with ancillary services in one transaction
Hopefully the IT change would go smoothly so that nobody will be inconvenienced during this anniversary promotion period.
This year’s Philippine Airlines seat sale is indeed looking to be their biggest promotion yet. Offers may differ based on where you’re booking and flying from, but it will be hard to argue with prices so irresistible. If you’ve got travel plans around Asia and across the Pacific, flying with Philippine Airlines’ network will help you and your wallet.
And a side trip to the country’s cities and beaches definitely make for a good vacation in itself.
