New Marriott Bonvoy Points Purchase Promotion
Back in early spring, the hotel chain Marriott debuted its first Bonvoy points purchase promotion. The program itself is a result of about a year-long merging of Marriott Rewards with Starwood Preferred Guest.
Looking forward to the remainder of the year, Marriott Bonvoy is ready with its second promotion for rewards points purchases.
Marriott Bonvoy Points Purchase Promotion
From now until October 18th, members can save 30% off the purchase price when buying just 2000 points or more. Visit this purchase page to enter your details, where you should see this:
Bonvoy (formerly Marriott Rewards) points can be bought for $12.50 per thousand block. Members can buy up to 50,000 points in a calendar year.
With this promotion, you pay 0.875 cents per Bonvoy point. While it’s slightly better than in their first deal, this rate is just okay considering our assessed point value. It’s not a rate you should buy impulsively for, but at least it’s good for adding points for a planned booking or extending your points’ validity (at just 2000 for $17.50).
Note that you can only avail this deal if your account is at least 90 days old, or otherwise at least 30 days old if you’ve made a qualifying activity (such as a stay) before.
Points purchased should come about 24 to 48 hours after the transaction has been completed. Also, points bought do not qualify for status.
With their second Marriott Bonvoy points purchase promotion, management seems to be testing the waters even further. At least, that’s how it seems considering the Marriott-SPG merger was completed just last year.
If you’re in need of points for a hotel redemption or your points are expiring soon, this deal is right for you. Otherwise, we’d rather wait for a possible subsequent promotion… you can only buy so much in a calendar year, after all.
