LifeMiles Bonus Promotion with Discounted Star Alliance Awards

Avianca LifeMiles is once again having a miles purchase promotion. Members can avail of this ongoing promotion until May 30th (CST/GMT-6).

LifeMiles Bonus

Members should login to the purchase miles page where you can find your LifeMiles bonus purchase options:

Promotion Purchase Options

Keep in mind there’s an annual maximum purchase of 200,000 LifeMiles. If you’ve bought any miles earlier this year you can only purchase the remaining amount, but the maximum limit count excludes any LifeMiles bonus purchased. Of course, you can always create another account to buy more.

Buying 101,000 miles would cost you 1.375 cents per mile which is, in our opinion, good value.

With those miles you can book premium cabins at Star Alliance awards chart rates, subject to seat availability:

  • Singapore (South Asia) to San Francisco (North America)
    • First: 99,000
    • Business: 78,000
  • Kuala Lumpur (South Asia) to Hawaii
    • First: 75,000
    • Business: 51,000
  • Manila (North Asia) to Tokyo or Seoul (North Asia)
    • First: 30,000
    • Business: 22,500
  • Singapore (South Asia) to Australia (Other)
    • First: 75,000
    • Business: 50,000
  • Bangkok (South Asia) to Frankfurt (Europe)
    • First: 102,000
    • Business:  78,000

You can grab a one-way flight from Manila on Business to Seoul on Asiana or to Tokyo on ANA for just US$303 (22,500 x $0.01347). For the unbelievable price, you get to fly on this:

Discounted Star Alliance Awards on Some Routes from Asia

In addition to the LifeMiles bonus promotion, there’s also the discounted award rates on some Star Alliance for some routes booked by June 15th (again, CST/GMT-6).

They’ve made available a list of discounted routes and classes. A few interesting routes on this deal include:

  • Bangkok to/from Seoul-Incheon: 25,000 on Business
  • Beijing to/from Los Angeles or New York-JFK: 60,000 on Business or 72,000 on First
  • Hong Kong to/from Los Angeles or San Francisco: 64,000 on Business
  • Taipei to Los Angeles or San Francisco: 60,000 on Business
  • Singapore to Seoul: 45,000 on First
  • Singapore to Tokyo-Narita: 29,000 on Business

Use the Avianca LifeMiles award search engine to check seat availability.

Note that, as with any award redemption, there will be some additional booking fee. There are also extra charges for ticket cancellation or itinerary changes.

Final Word

While the current LifeMiles bonus promotion is pretty standard, it’s an opportunity to grab miles for travel in the near future. There are award discounts on specific routes, too, so you can use their availability search engine to confirm open slots.

If you’re not interested in the subscription-style Club LifeMiles program, this is the way to stock up on a bulk of miles immediately. Whether you’re planning for travel soon or simply want to refresh your account miles expiry, this is one way to get more value.
