LifeMiles Bonus Miles Summer 2019 Sale

The northern summer is here, and Avianca’s frequent flyer program is back with their newest LifeMiles bonus miles promotion.

This new sale will be going for the rest of July (CST/GMT-6). As usual the bonus may vary per account, so you should login to check what is available to you.

LifeMiles Bonus

Purchasing LifeMiles during this period would give you up to 130% bonus miles, like so:

LifeMiles Summer 2019 Promotion

It seems LifeMiles introduced a fourth, smaller tier with this offer, most likely to urge people to buy at least 11,000 miles. It’s no big deal, but when compared to the previous promotion you get slightly better bonuses at higher tiers.

Just a reminder: you can only buy a maximum of 200,000 LifeMiles in a year. If you’ve bought any miles earlier this year you can only purchase the remaining amount, but the maximum limit count excludes any LifeMiles bonus purchased. You can create another account to buy more, though.

Purchasing 101,000 miles means a cost of 1.435 cents per mile (cpm). We’ve seen some lower LifeMiles cpm before, but this is still, in our opinion, good value.

What can you get with those miles? Unfortunately their Star Alliance awards chart is no longer available, but you may — subject to seat availability — book tickets like:

  • Singapore (South Asia) to San Francisco (North America)
    • First: 99,000
    • Business: 78,000
  • Kuala Lumpur (South Asia) to Hawaii
    • First: 75,000
    • Business: 51,000
  • Manila (North Asia) to Tokyo or Seoul (North Asia)
    • First: 30,000
    • Business: 22,500
  • Singapore (South Asia) to Australia (Other)
    • First: 75,000
    • Business: 50,000
  • Bangkok (South Asia) to Frankfurt (Europe)
    • First: 102,000
    • Business:  78,000

One can book a one-way flight from Manila riding Business to Seoul on Asiana or to Tokyo on ANA for just US$322 (22,500 x $0.01435). That’s great value right there; for the price, you get to fly on this:

Asiana A350 Business Class

Final Word

With some smart planning, travelers can get great value out of Avianca LifeMiles. This promotion opens up a cheaper way to fly on points. If you haven’t used the program and bought from them before, now could be a good time to stock up on some miles for future travel plans.
